Team History

Student athletes from the Salt Lake City High Schools began riding together in 2012 as the Salt Lake City Composite High School Mountain Bike Team. High school student athletes have attended Highland, East, West AMES, SPA, Innovations, Rowland Hall and Judge.

In 2015, East High School split off to form its own team. The number of West riders had also increased and West began to score separately for League races but continued to be managed as a multi-school team, training and racing together with SLC Composite.

In 2016, SLC Composite added a Junior Development team (7th and 8th graders). Devo athletes attended SLARTS, Clayton, Hillside, West, Madeleine Choir, Cosgriff, Rowland Hall, and Bryant.

By 2019, the Salt Lake City Composite/West High School team had grown to 90 student athletes.

2021 was Composite’s 10th year riding with the Utah High School Cycling League! High school mountain biking had grown dramatically and our team evolved as well. Highland High School membership had grown sufficiently such that they began scoring separately in League races. West High School split off to form a separate team. SLC Composite and Highland continued to operate as a multi-school team, with two scoring entities.

In 2024, with greater than 130 members, the Team has again evolved to 3 teams in one: Highland High School, Judge Memorial Catholic High School and SLC Composite Júnior Devo. Although we will wear 3 different kits for 2024, the team will continue to train and race together. 13 years later, the spirit of SLC Composite remains – to instill a lifelong love of mountain biking for SLC students, and to have the most fun.
